five things | Dancing With Giants
A semi regular list of five things I've enjoyed recently.

We finished watching Yellowstone last year. As a TV show, it started well, but the quality really started to dip in later seasons. It descended into soap, and some of the storylines and character choices were really dumb. The one redeeming thing I took from it was Ryan Bingham. He played one of the cowboys working on the ranch who picks up a guitar and has a nice soft gravelly tone to his voice. I’ve always enjoyed a bit of alt-country, and he has quite the body of work.

Someone thought they were hurling an insult at one of our local councillors, calling them a lefty Guardian reader. I happily pointed out I am a lefty Guardian reader, and it shut them up for a minute. It could be argued that this show from Zack Galifianakis leans left, but in reality he is using his platform to educate people on how to grow their own food. He is charming, funny and brings a light touch to a subject matter that some would mock or find boring.

This is pretty depressing reading. The wealthy in London leaving second or even third homes empty is depressing when you consider the housing issues and homelessness this country faces.
I’ve been told that a lot of the owners haven’t even come to collect their keys
Visual
Some amazing photos in the All About Photos 2026 winners. A lot of good compositions and interesting subjects. This one was breathtaking.

I’m endlessly fascinated with buildings and architecture. I love travelling to places and walking around looking up. I take a lot of photos of these buildings with the aim of one day drawing them. I came across this trailer recently, and it’s right up my street. Not sure if I will get a chance to catch it anywhere, but I will keep an eye out for sure.
