I’m not entirely sure where the time has gone since I last sent something out, but I do know my head has felt very much like it’s full of soup. I haven’t really read or written much and have not felt much inclination to do so. Let’s call it a creative block of my own making.
I like some sort of organisation in my life, a routine, but since quitting full-time work, that routine has eroded away to dust. I tried to get out for the odd walk or run and stick to the yoga, but stints working away made it harder to maintain.
Then I found myself in covid corner. Finally tagged, I spent a week both sweating out and then shaking with cold as my body battled with a fever. I had all the symptoms including headaches, body aches, congestion and a throat feeling like I’d swallowed broken glass. Yet still, I was testing negative.
Thinking it was just a bug and would clear, we travelled 7 hours up north to see family, only to arrive at the place we were staying and for me to finally test positive. Meaning the entire journey was a waste of time as we took a day to rest and returned home to isolate.
Long term it seems like I’m over the worst of it. I’ve started running again, been out on some short walks and started cycling. And finally, the brain fog is clearing and I’m feeling like I might start writing again.
In the meantime, I have moved everything from WordPress to a new website here, so make sure you bookmark this one if you want to keep an eye on stuff I might write about.
Work-wise, that’s a tricky one. As it stands I’m supposed to have started a new role two weeks ago but the end client is in a logjam and waiting on the only person in the company to sign it off. And that person is just not responding to any messages. So still gainfully unemployed but I have a few interviews lined up so hopefully, I’ll be working soon.
In some other news, I passed the Creative Writing course I completed at Cardiff University. It was either a pass or fail to be honest, so it’s no great deal, but I learnt a lot and found it really useful.
My Writing
Cwmorthin - I wrote about a trip we made in 2021 to North Wales and submitted this piece as part of my coursework.
Flutter - It’s amazing the sound of a bird fluttering its wings will have on your creative process.

Other Interesting Links
I’ve read some interesting articles but just didn’t keep the links. Next time.
Books I’ve Read & Enjoyed
Entangled Life | Merlin Sheldrake - A book all about the author’s fascination and relationship with fungi. It isn’t academic and is a nice easy read.
That’s it for now. Thanks for reading. Get outside, explore and stay safe. Till next time.
